http://www.jomres.net/Jomres-news/jomres-gpl.htmlAfter much soul searching, I've come to realise that to stay active in the Joomla econosphere I have no choice but to license Jomres as GPL.
Everybody who uses the software agrees with me that it has no peers and it's the best at what it does, however in a market that's dominated by poor but free or cheap competitors it's not enough to make the best possible Joomla hotel booking component, you have to go that one step further.
To that end I've now decided to relicense Jomres as GPL from v4.3.
Future purchases will be for the Jomres download and three months support, we will not be able to provide the lifetime support or upgrades that we did to pre-GPL clients.
What does this mean for existing users?
For Jomres Developer users there's no change at all really. The ioncube loaders are no longer used to encode files so you can, if you wish, use Jomres on multiple servers, but apart from that there will be no difference. If you purchased Jomres prior to 30th Nov 2009 you will continue to be able to contact us for any period for support, the three month limit only applies to purchases after then.
Jomres Solo users will be the best off as once they upgrade their systems will effectively become the developer portal application. I could in theory make a different, solo type application but that's a lot of work and duplication of effort for a poor reason.
Jomres Unlimited users will be getting exactly what they got before, but with the extra "freedom" (and limitations) that the GPL provides..
It's going to take a little while for me to bring the site up to date with the new license folks, so if you see stuff relating to the old proprietary license, you can safely ignore it (even better, send an email to
